GFWC of Kansas

118th Annual State Convention
April 12-13, 2013
Spiritual Life Center
Wichita, KS

Seventy three attendees enjoyed each others presence at the 118th Annual State Convention in Wichita, KS.

We learned that Akela Miller is the winner of our Entrepreneurship scholarship for the fall and spring semesters.
Debrah Winger is the Leads representative for 2014.
The guest speaker, Mary Ellen Brock, was going to give a speech at this convention called "The Power of One".  She was detained at the Chicago airport, due to the weather there, and later had to cancel her trip and return home.  The speech will be copied into the Kansas Clubwoman for your review.

We celebrated Jessie Peterson, from Salina, who is in Federation 60 years, and the Elcart Club celebrating 90 years in Federation.

The State Music Festival that Kansas held annually has been cancelled.  The Festival is now being moved to District level, and we will have to try it, and see if it will work for all districts or not.  Finances have been hard to come by the last few years, and the scholarships are too expensive to continue without them.  News of this change will also be shared with all districts in the near future.

The convention members voted in favor on a motion made to remove the last sentence of Article V Section 2A  of our BYLAWS removing the last sentence for the next term only.

Convention adjourned at 3 pm.

About Us

The General Federation of Women's Clubs of Kansas is an international women's organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.

1890 Kansas became a charter member of GFWC.
"And what they dare to dream of ...dare to do."
Kansas Clubwomen represent the full spectrum of lifestyles of women today-married, single, with or without children, homemakers, women in the marketplace, professional women, career women-ALL interested in self improvement as well as community improvement.

There are clubs for all ages and interests.  The state has six districts. The exchange of knowledge is via the Kansas Clubwoman that every member receives. The Departments and Divisions are ongoing.

The accomplishments of GFWC of Kansas are part of the history of the many communities of this state and the nation.  As members of the General Federation of Women's Clubs International, the largest organization of volunteer women in the world, Kansas club members have the advantage of suggested projects with support materials, sponsors, leadership development opportunities and experienced direction.
If you are not yet a member of a federated club, you have the opportunity to join these dedicated women in a club near your home.  Enjoy the fellowship at club meetings, serve your community, and as a volunteer, you can benefit from the wide range of involvement in a structured organization.
"U N I together, we can make a difference."
